This is a great opportunity if you have been considering kitesurfing to find out just what is involved.  Girls, guys, kids and whole families are welcome.  Kitesurfing is for everyone, not just the extreme adrenalin junkies.  You can cruise, you can play and you can go hard, but however you do it, you have to start somewhere.

SEQKA will join Adventure Sports Kitesurf Australia and Noosa Kiteboarding to host a kitesurfing ride day on Sunday 30th November.

Depending on wind conditions what activities will be included but the venue is set for Castaways from 11am.  

SEQKA, AKSA members can enjoy the day of activities and the BBQ at no cost.  Non members are always welcome at a cost of $30.00 for the day.  If you have considered membership then now might be a great time as SEQKA provides kiteboarder insurance, free events during the year and is a requirement of entry into all major competitions and at an annual cost of $65.00 is really great value.  You can now join SEQKA through our store, so give us a call or drop in anytime to fill out the application form.

This will be a great social day, so join us for some sun, wind, great kiting and fun for everyone.

Join Slingshot and Adventure Sports Kitesurf Australia as they host a flat water clinic right here in Noosa.  Pro riders including Andy Yates, Chris Wardell and Dave Sorrensen will be instructing over the two day clinic.  Spaces are limited and there is a minimum skill level required to ensure you get the best out of the sessions.

Demo Slingshot gear will also be available for the sessions, so don’t miss this great chance to learn from professional kiteboarders who specialise in flatwater freestyle and wakestyle moves.

Keahi de Aboitiz takes out first in the Coolum Kite Festival “off the lip classic” for the second year running.

This event established by Adventure Sports Kitesurf Australia in 2005 has been growing each year with this year the full 60 competitors ready to race plus registered competitors on standby.

The wind conditions were not in our favour this year, but that didn’t stop the skilled and dedicated few from giving it a go.  Nearly 20 competitors from division one attempted the start with only 5 successfully making their way out over the breakers in the very light conditions.

Adventure Sports Kitesurf Australia team rider Aden Back was the youngest to make it on to the water but unfortunately wasn’t able to finish the race.  While Jess Embling the only female to take to the water after division two was cancelled due to safety concerns showed the onlookers how it should be done.  Both Aden and Jess took out cash encouragement awards donated by SEQKA.

Major prizes donated by Slingshot Kiteboarding and M8 kiteboarding were taken home by Brisbane competitors Rodney Eggins & Brendon Mitchell.

1st and 2nd in division one received cash prizes donated by SEQKA while 3rd and 4th took home prizes donated by Pro Limit.

Many other competitors shared in great prizes draw out of the hat and donated by Cult Industries, KSA designs, Hive Swimwear, Ben Wilson Surfing, Adventure Sports Kitsurf Australia and competitors bags were full of prizes donated by KBM, Bli Bli Ski n Skurf, FCS and the Coolum Kitesurfing Committee.  Special thanks to our major sponsor Kula Beach Shacks.

Events like this don’t happen with out the help of volunteers. Thanks go to Kylie, Mike from Noosa Kiteboarding school, Rah from Rahini Images, the jetski support team of David and Glen and the finish line team of Niva and Hayley.

Saturday 27th September saw a great turn out to our first ladies only clinic held at Castaways Beach on the Sunshine Coast.

Special guest Rebecca Colefax (Nicholson) former KPWT Champion of 2003 gave an inspirational talk and helped the ladies who attended with advise and support.

Adventure Sports Kitesurf Australia’s senior instructor George Tarr and Noosa Kiteboarding’s senior instructor Mike Burrell took small groups of ladies through some trainer kite practise while Rebecca suported the more experienced kiters with information ranging from harness choice right through to how to start on those freestyle moves.

Rebecca then gave a final motivational question and answer time for any ladies considering kitesurfing along with the ladies who had started in the sport but had not yet progressed to board riding.

As part of our committment to kitesurifng safety on the Sunshine Coast and Noosa, Adventure Sports Kitesurf Australia and Noosa Kiteboarding will once again host a FREE safety clinic.

Followed by a Ladies Only Clinic at 1pm

Join in ladies to find out more about kitesurfing or to fine tune your existing skills.  Guest speaker Rebecca Colefax (Nicholson) former World Champion and the only Australian to hold a world championship title will talk about the history of kitesurfing for women and how far it has come.  She will talk about what kept her motived and about the advances in safety and technology since her initiation into the sport.

George our qualified senior instructor will offer support to ladies who are already kiting and we will be flying some trainer kites to give everyone a chance to Come & Try!

Adventure Sports Kitesurf Australia will once again help to organise the Coolum Kite Festival “off the lip” down winder classic kitesurfing race. The race to be held during the festival on the 11th & 12th October 2008 will offer kitesurfers a great race, with competitors ranging from beginners to advanced riders.
